123 Andrés | Around the Americas

Photo (detail) by José Alberto Piña Duarte. Backsplash photo (detail) by Dario Treviño.

This bilingual concert will be performed in Spanish and English.

Christina and Andrés can’t find their friend Juana, and their only clue is that she’s somewhere in the Americas. Join GRAMMY and Latin Grammy Award-winning 123 Andrés in this lively, interactive concert to search the continents and learn about geography and music along the way. The audience will be a key part in this rich journey brought to the stage with colorful, exciting visuals. Andrés and Christina, both native Spanish speakers, incorporate language seamlessly, inviting students (and grown-ups!) to sing, move, and learn.

123 Andrés, the husband-wife team of Andrés and Christina, has performed for audiences across the US and in Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico, and Colombia, at venues including Wolf Trap (Vienna, VA), Symphony
Space (NYC), and the Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Andrés grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, and learned how to play the guitar from his father at an early age. He had his first studio experience at age eight, and from there he went on to earn a Doctorate in music and won the National Composition Contest in Colombia for one of his early songs.

Christina grew up in the Midwest in a Spanish-speaking immigrant family from Colombia. Her love for the stage started when her mom signed her up for theater and dance as a child. After college she worked in the classroom as a public school teacher, and received a Masters in Education. When she joined 123 Andrés, she found her calling teaching through music.

123 Andrés imparts the joy of language, music, and movement in a bilingual collection of songs that is storytime and classroom-friendly. – American Library Association, Children’s Division
