EFA is delighted to welcome back Inez Barlatier following the enthusiastic response to her acclaimed show Ayiti: Stories and Songs from Haiti, now reimagined as Tati Nuzi and Friends: Stories and Songs from Haiti.
Inez Barlatier, a Miami native, is a multifaceted performer of Ayisyen (Haitian) descent. As Tati Nuzi, she celebrates the art and culture of her homeland Ayiti (Haiti) through energetic drumming and singing, colorful costumes and traditional dances, folktales, and visual art. Inez’s ancestral and resonant voice brings forth the deeply rooted musical traditions of her family with a youthful vibrancy that is ecstatic and infectious. Her beaming smile invites participation as she teaches Ayisyen drumming rhythms and phrases in Kreyòl (Creole) that emphasize community and gratitude.
With the help of her enthusiastic band, Tati Nuzi leads children on a journey to a land rich with history that has often been overlooked. “I learned my Ayisyen heritage while playing in my father’s band. Through music, drumming and dancing, my father taught me to love my culture which helped me to love myself. I feel blessed to bring this feeling of self-love and acceptance to young Ayisyen children so they can know and love themselves too. To see their peers celebrate with them is so special and inspiring!”
Thank You!
